Newsletter to Dunedin Clubs
Fees 2011 table at bottom

As Football grows in popularity there is more onus placed on all District Federations to grow our sport into a Youthtruly major sport within New Zealand and convert the generally positive momentum of recent times into more and gradually improving players, coaches, referee’s and administrators.

To get the maximum return from each dollar invested, emphasis has generally been placed on growing under 18 football as there is the chance of our youth generation having a lifetime association with the game.

While clubs/school fees income has traditionally represented around 1/3 of total income – it is the core income of our organization as grant funding through community funding agencies shrinks every year.

During 2010 Footballsouth directed resources into capturing membership information through the goalnet IT project which is a National strategy designed to understand the demographics of our membership. The goalnet project also provided Footballsouth with the opportunity to start the transition from a team based invoicing system – to invoicing and receiving fees from clubs on an actual individual registered player basis. The premise behind this is that everyone playing our game should contribute to its cost.

Since Footballsouth was established in 2000 fees have been charged to clubs/schools at a reasonable level when compared to all other centres around New Zealand. Since 2003 fees have been increased every two years by 5 % which represents a cost of living adjustment to match the general increase in expenditure caused by inflation.

YouthOver recent years Footballsouth has adopted a lenient approach in the collection of fees from clubs/schools. Subsequently additional resource has been engaged in credit control communicating with clubs who are late paying fees. This is seen as non productive exercise, as our limited human resources should be focused on growing and developing football within the region.

Therefore during the Footballsouth Board meeting held on Thursday 18th November the following financial decisions were approved.

The Footballsouth Board has confirmed the 5% increase in Footballsouth fees for the 2011 season as part of Footballsouth policy of maintaining purchasing power with inflation. An updated schedule of the 2011 Footballsouth and New Zealand Football fees is attached to this newsletter.

On October 1st 2010 GST increased to 15 %. The increase in GST has been included in the player fee structure for the 2011 season.

The payment dates for Footballsouth and New Zealand Football fees were confirmed as follows:

  1. First installment – 30th April 2011 – interim invoice due ( invoice based on 55% of actual 2010 fees paid )
  2. Second installment – 30th June 2011 – final invoice due – balance of 2011 fees based on actual clubs/school player membership less first installment paid.

If the first installment is not paid in full by 30th April a 7.5% interest penalty will be incurred on any outstanding amount.

If the second installment is not paid in full by 30th June a 7.5 % interest penalty will be incurred on any outstanding amount.

If fees are not paid in full by 30th June – then Footballsouth will have the option to default all teams from competition from the middle of July until all fees are paid up to date.

I trust the information presented in this newsletter is clear but any clubs/schools wanting any additional information should contact the Footballsouth office on the numbers below.
