Second Half Sizzler 
Another blistering second half performance saw Caversham over run Spirit 5-nil, in the Footballsouth Premier League match played at the Caledonian ground on Saturday.
The goals keep coming for Caversham's strike force which was without Tom Jackson, but operated to deadly effect after an initial slow start.

Tristan Prattley heads north to play club football in Wellington for Western Suburbs. Good for young Prattley who is a gifted left fullback, and deserves to chase his chosen career in Football - but Bad for Otago, as once again, youngsters feel they have to move north to better themselves.

Chatham Cup draw on Radio Sport on Tuesday. However, they put Footballsouth & Mainland teams in together – this should not have been done until round 4
NZ Football have apologized for this error and have now re-drawn Round 3.

Anyone who saw that Hitchcock movie, ‘The Birds,’ would not have been happy at Tonga park, as players dodged between gulls during the game.
Of course it may have been a secret plan of Birchie’s to scatter crumbs on the pitch, and if he did – it worked as Caversham beat Dunedin Technical 5-1 to knock them out of the Chatham Cup. More..

Phoenix Trial for Prattley
In fair recognition of consistent good
performances in the New Zealand Football Championship, Otago United defender Tristan Prattley was voted by the Yellow Fever website as a shared candidate for the prize of a weeks trial with The Phoenix.
2009 Scholarship winner, Marco Rojas, who made his A-League debut at just 17 - coming off the bench away to Melbourne Victory - and has now made four appearances for the Phoenix.
Tristan and fellow winner Thomas Spragg will spend a week training with the Phoenix prior to the 2010/2011 Hyundai A-League season. Yellow Fever covers the cost of their flights and accommodation.
Congestion Ahead
Winning a League Championship is more of a marathon than a sprint and some dogged determination will be required from Saturday onwards as the Footballsouth leaders grind out results. Weekend Prevu.

Focus on this week’s Footballsouth Premier
League matches was diverted slightly due to some controversy regarding the Chatham Cup draw.
The draw was made live on radio on Monday, but prior to that, there were versions of the draw being bandied around which cast some aspersions on the validity of the ‘live’ draw.

Otago coach Malcolm Fleming is calling for total concentration from his team when it faces Waikato at 1pm on Carisbrook on Sunday.
Recently named NZFC Coach of the Month, Fleming quipped ‘ I would have preferred the award next month – after getting into the Play-Offs.

There was no shortage of drama as two red
cards were issued in Napier when Hawkes Bay beat Otago United 2-1 on Sunday.
The National Football Championship Match was evenly balanced until referee Anthony Riley sent off Otago’s James Reichwein and Bays centreback Jonathan Taylor in the 28th minute for some push and shove after a disputed tackle by Reichwein.

A not so thin blue line defied Auckland City at
Carisbrook and Otago United posted warning that it will not be easy pickings this season as new coach Malcolm Fleming engineered a non-scoring draw with the NZFC champion.
Auckland played smooth stylish football, showing ball technique that impressed purists, but Otago reminded spectators that hard work and tough tackling are worth a point or two.
