SoccerSouth v Waikato/BOP Football
Caledonian 1 pm Sunday. October 21st.
Second placed Waikato/BOP Football gave northern neighbours Auckland a first-half
scare last week but now make the long trip to Dunedin looking to cement
their position in the top three.
But their hosts, SoccerSouth are looking for
their first win in their first home game and Waikato/BOP coach Duncan Baird
expects a repeat of the close battle his side faced at the Caledonian last
year. “SoccerSouth are very tough to play down there. We blindsided
a few teams last year but were lucky to burgle a 2-2 draw in Dunedin,”
said Baird.
“However, if we can get through this weekend [with a win] then we
can start eyeing a return to the playoffs”
SoccerSouth’s most seasoned campaigner Kushla
Glover will be missing from the southerners’ line-up on Sunday
and with six players making their debut last week Glover’s experience
will be a big loss.
However
SoccerSouth coach Hugh Madden was buoyed by the performance of his young
charges and will hope the return of Una Madden and
Liz Steiner – pending late fitness tests – softens the
blow.
Capital Football currently sit in fourth spot heading into this weekend's
bye.
