The Manager will be Jane McAuslan. Mark Glover will assist in preparation and media responsibilities.

Hughie and Tony

From Leanne Tiffen (c), Cheryl McDiarmid, Jo Rombouts, Amanda Scott, Rebekah Brook, Jaime Hackett, Kushla Glover, Kathy Doubleday, Una Madden, Laura Wallis, Mariah Meagher, Nancy Campbell, Liz Steiner, Monique Francois, Sam Muirhead, Elise Mamana-Gray, Georgie Hewson,
Amber Mulhall-Larsen, Emily Frost, Noran Abaza.

The team will be built around experienced players Kushla Glover, Mariagh Meagler, Jaime Hackett, Nancy Campbell, Amanda Scott, and Leanne Tiffen who will captain the side.

The Soccersouth team finished a promising sixth last year winning two games and loosing a close game 1-2 against eventual Champions Auckland in the inaugural Women’s football match played at Carisbrook. An upset win in this historic match could have seen the side through to the semi finals for the first time. Their first match this year is an away game against Capital Football, a team who Soccersouth have yet to beat over the last four years.

Soccersouth will be looking to start on a positive note this Sunday in Wellington and buck the trend of first round losses during previous campaigns. In form midfielders Amanda Scott and Kushla Glover will be looking to provide quality attacking crosses for the twin strike force of leading goal scorer Jaime Hackett and Captain Leanne Tiffen. The defence will be anchored by Nancy Campbell who will need to be in top form to curtail the Capital threat. Campbell showed her attacking qualities at the recent World Student Games in Thailand with a well taken goal against Brazil.

This year the NWL Grand Final is scheduled to be played in Wellington’s as a curtain raiser to the Wellington Phoenix v David Beckham’s L. A. Galaxy match on Saturday 1st December. The fixture should showcase women’s football to a large audience and will be the last serious match of the 2007 season before New Zealand Football enters into arguably the biggest year of female football when it hosts the 2008 FIFA under 17 Women’s World Cup.
